Why Choose A 1.5 Tesla High-Field MRI Exam Over An Open or Stand Up MRI?

Why Choose A High-Field MRI Exam Over An Open MRI?

There are several reasons to have your MRI exam performed in a "high-field" MRI system like the one at Infinity MRI and Diagnostics. Here are the highlights.

• The term "high-field" refers to a magnetic field strength that is greater than 1.0 Tesla (most high-field MR systems are 1.5 Tesla). The detail and resolution available in an image is directly related to the strength of the magnetic field. Simply put, the higher the magnetic field strength, the more details we can see inside the body.

• When the magnetic field is high enough, the separation between the different tissues is greater, which gives radio signals that are more defined and more detailed.

• The simple truth is that high-field magnets produce much sharper and detailed images than an open unit. Images of the soft-tissue structures of the body—such as the heart, lungs, liver, and other organs—are clearer and more detailed than with other imaging methods.

• Scan times are drastically reduced. High-field exams are produced in about half the time of open units in comparable tests.

• Since scan times are halved in the high-field machine, you are subject to the claustrophobic feeling for a much shorter time, while getting a far superior scan.

• Since the scan times in high-field MRI are so much lower, inherent patient motion is greatly reduced and can even be virtually eliminated.

• The General Electric Signa EchoSpeed 1.5 Tesla (High-Field) Magnetic Resonance Imager, which produces optimum image quality with the utmost comfort and convenience is available.
